Out of seven cantonments established by the English in Himachal Pradesh; Kasauli and Dagshai are two cantonments. St.Lawrence School Sanawar was founded by Sir Henry Lawrence during 1847. Out of 7 sanitariums established during English regime in the area, one existed at Mandodhar-- just a few meters away from this location. Out of 15 cemeteries (approx.) in Himachal Pradesh, two are situated in Dagshai and one in Kasauli just a few kilometers from this place. The area is covered by dense pine trees, best for curing patients’ suffering from Tuberculosis (TB). In addition, Dagshai houses one of the two cellular jails, one in Lahore (Pakistan). The place is approachable by road, train and air routes. While National Highway-05 is at a distance of 1 Km, the nearest Northern Railway station is at a distance of 3 Kms at Dharampur on Kalka-Shimla train route having world heritage status. One of the two of the nearer airports is at Chandigarh and the other is at Jubbarhatti District Shimla of Himachal Pradesh. This place is paradise for those who love Mother Nature, solitude, and clean pollution free environment.
